Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) 2008 was launched in October, with a comprehensive array of activities that educated the public of the disease in many innovative ways.
In this feature, I will focus on the husband's perspective and responsibilities in the battle against breast cancer. This is a two-part situation arising from a single problem. I can only relate from my own personal experiences.
Since our inception on September 1997, we have received generous support from individuals and groups who truly believe in our cause. Our newsletter, Abreast Link, is one of the channels through which we express our appreciation to our members and generous sponsors for the support through the years.
The earnest fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease is continually being battled on many fronts. On the medical front, the advances in ongoing research and clinical trials have saved many lives. Whilst progress in technology has contributed to better detection, eg. digital mammography, only recently available in Singapore, allows higher quality imaging for more accurate readings.
