TO ERADICATE BREAST CANCER AS A LIFE - THREATENING DISEASE
I never thought I would get breast cancer. It was a
difficult period for me but with the help of my family,
my support group at Breast Cancer Foundation, and my doctors,
I have finally come to terms with my cancer and learnt to face it. More..

BCF relies on donations, sponsors and fund-raising activities to raise money to run its various programmes and services. Fund-raising activities may be organised by BCF, often with support from sponsors, or by other organisations or individuals. Funds collected will go towards raising breast cancer awareness, promoting regular screening, and providing support for people affected by breast cancer, to help them cope with the disease and continue on to live active and meaningful lives.
BCF’s annual fundraising cum awareness activity is the "Wear the Pink Ribbon" event. The pink ribbon is the international symbol representing awareness and hope for women with breast cancer. In September and October, pink ribbon pins are distributed at a minimum donation of $2.00 each at healthcare facilities and various retail and food outlets at shopping centres etc. In October, BCF volunteers go out looking for people wearing the pins and those spotted doing so will get a goodie bag and a chance to win attractive prizes.
Past fundraising activities organised for us have ranged from Gala dinners and special promotions to novel events and school projects. Listed here are just a few of these, to give an idea of what well-wishers and corporate partners have done for us.
BCF has been fortunate to have had a range of these, from gala dinners to home parties, held by well-wishing organisations as well as individuals. On the list are People’s Association Women’s Wing Dinner that raised over $600,000 and Mr and Mrs Terry O’Connor’s Christmas Party that brought in $20,000.
Products such as jewellery, perfumes, toiletries and food items have been sold by various commercial entities who have then donated proceeds to BCF. These have included Dolce and Gabbana, Gillette, Delifrance, TianPo etc. Proceeds from ballets, operas and rock concerts, to name a few, have also helped to raise funds for BCF.
BCF has been the beneficiary for walks, golf tournaments, bowling challenges and other physically challenging events.
Many schools and education institutions are keen to work with BCF on their school projects. In addition to fund-raising for BCF, breast cancer awareness is created through such collaborations.
Bras For A Cause ¡V Wacoal Singapore and Class 95 organised this novel event in 2002 that not only raised awareness and funds for BCF but also created a new Guinness record for the longest chain of bras. People were invited to donate old bras and received a $5 Wacoal voucher per bra in return. Wacoal donated $30,000 to BCF for all the bras collected.
